Winter Reading Challenge: Free Book for Readers!

Winter Reading Challenge
December 20 - January 17
Ages 0-18
The Winter Reading Challenge is back! This Winter Break read for 15 minutes a day for 14 days, and you earn a FREE book! The challenge is open to all Salinas children and teens from December 20, 2025 – January 17, 2026. This is not a competition and there's no test, so just have fun reading what you like most.
Read books that you already have at home, books you borrow from a friend, checkout books from the library or read an e-book. Don't forget that audiobooks count as reading as well! You access e-books and e-audiobooks on your device through Libby or Hoopla. The goal is to experience a book you enjoy! Not sure what to read? Ask one of our librarians or view recommendations in our catalog!
Keep track of your reading in ReadSquared. Paper reading logs will also be available at any Salinas Public Library starting December 20, 2025.
After the 14 days of reading are completed, remember to stop by any Salinas Public Library to select a book prize. The last day to claim your prize is January 27, 2026.
